Introduction to the Jongmyo Daeje Event in 2013
I would like to thank the people for their interest and affection in World Heritage Jongmyo.
The Jongmyo Daeje Festival, co-hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation and organized by the Jongmyo Daejebong Committee (Jongmyo Jerye Preservation Society and Jongmyo Jeryeak Preservation Society), will be held at Jongmyo on May 5, 2013.
Jongmyo Daeje, an important intangible cultural property No. 56, is an unprecedented traditional ritual where you can enjoy tangible and intangible world heritage together, and this year marks the 12th anniversary of Jongmyoje's inclusion on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
On the day of the event, the Jongmyo Grand Festival will be held in the morning (the exact time will be decided in early April) in the order of Gyeongbokgung → Sejong-ro → Sejong-ro Intersection → Jongro 1, 2, 3ga → Jongmyo (Jaegung), Yeongnyeongjeon Hall from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Jeongjeon Hall from 4:30 p.m.
Jongmyo Shrine will be open for free on May 5, 2013, the day of the Jongmyo Grand Festival, and you can watch Jongmyo Shrine and Jongmyo Grand Festival without a reservation in advance.
