In celebration of the nation's largest Lunar New Year holiday, the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation (Chairman Kim Hong-ryul) will hold two events in front of Heungryemun Gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace on February 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event will be held after the gatekeeper shift ceremony at the entrance of Heungnyemun Gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the king distributes "sehwa" to the general public and tourists.
The "Event to Distribute Sehwa" is an event that recreates the seasonal customs in which the king personally distributed Sehwa to his subjects and the people in the Joseon Dynasty, with the meaning of Byeoksa and Gibok in the New Year. This event is important in that it is reproduced based on literature such as the Annals of the Dynasty and Seungjeongwon Diary and opened to the public. Sehwa means "a painting made in the palace to celebrate the New Year in the Joseon Dynasty and given by the king to his subjects," and in this event, Maenghodo will be distributed to domestic and foreign tourists to mark the 2010 Tiger Year of the Tiger in 2010.
The event will feature about 30 people, including the king, Yejo Panseo, and the chairman, and will be held for about 20 minutes. In addition, Geodong, the royal family's walk, a journey from Sujeongjeon to Heungryemun in Gyeongbokgung Palace, where the king is escorted by the chairman for visitors, will be held before the event.
This event is expected to be a good opportunity for visitors to the old palace to experience their own traditional events and feel the joy of welcoming the new year. Anyone can watch the event without entering Gyeongbokgung Palace, and it is expected to give special memories to domestic and foreign tourists as well as family visitors to the palace for the holiday.
The event is hosted by the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Cultural Heritage Administration. The end.
