Hanmaeum Playground for Chuseok with the whole family - Tightrope Pan Nori, Bukcheong Lion Nori
The Gyeongbokgung Management Office of the Cultural Heritage Administration (Director Park Jong-gap) will hold an exciting tightrope pan-play and Bukcheongsa Temple play for domestic and foreign visitors to Gyeongbokgung Palace on the occasion of Chuseok, our own holiday. It will be held in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace's Geunjeongmun Gate from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for two days from September 13th (Sat) to 14th (Sun), the Chuseok holiday period. Tightrope walking was also performed in the royal court, and Bukcheongsa Temple Norum is an event to chase away miscellaneous ghosts and pray for peace in the village, and is still gaining popularity among traditional performance plays today.
The 2008 Hanmaeum Playground for Chuseok consists of Gilnori, Pungmulnori, and Jeokgosa Temple, focusing on tightrope walking play and Bukcheongsa Temple, which are designated as Important Intangible Cultural Properties No. 15 and No. 58 in Korea. About 70 players from the "Trope Walking Preservation Society and the Bukcheong Lion Play Preservation Society" will hold an exciting event in front of Geunjeongmun Gate, starting with Gilnori, which leads spectators to Gyeongbokgung Palace outside Heungryemun Gate.
There is a record that there was a tightrope walk at Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and Sajeongjeon Hall during the Joseon Dynasty, so it is expected to be a rich holiday playground that brings families and relatives together while introducing our traditional culture to domestic and foreign visitors to Gyeongbokgung Palace during the Chuseok holiday.
In addition, Gyeongbokgung Palace operates traditional Korean folk games such as tuho, yutnori, top-kicking, and jegichagi around Sujeongjeon during the Chuseok holiday (9.13-9.15).
