Children's Day (5.5) Hunminjeongeum Preface Writing Event Guide

The Gyeongbokgung Management Office (Director Choi Byung-sun) will hold a preface writing event for Hunminjeongeum for elementary school students nationwide at 10:30 a.m. on May 5 (Mon), the 86th Children's Day.

The event, which will be held for the third year this year, aims to instill pride in the originality and excellence of Korean alphabet in children, who are growing sprouts, and provide an opportunity to feel King Sejong's love for the people.

All participating male and female children will also have a traditional cultural experience of wearing a samo (a hat worn by officials) and ayam (a woman's outing hat), and a Hunminjeong Haerye Yeonginbon (donated by Ha Dong-jeong's family) will be displayed at the venue to provide children with a chance to see and appreciate Hunminjeongeum.

The venue of the event is a crystal exhibition built on the site of Jiphyeonjeon, the birthplace of Hunminjeongeum, and participating children will be presented with crystal ornaments engraved with photos of Geunjeongjeon, Gyeonghoeru, and Hyangwonjeong in Gyeongbokgung Palace.
