Re-enactment of Tae Bong-chul Ceremony of King Sejong the Great
The Gyeongbokgung Management Office (Director Choi Byung-sun) will recreate the Tae Bong-sik (Embracing Tae) in the Sejong Grand Prince Taesil Tae Bong-sik, which cherished and managed Tae like life after the birth of King Sejong's Prince at Gyotaejeon and Gangnyeongjeon in Gyeongbokgung Palace at 2 p.m. on April 16 (Wed.).
The "Sejongdae Prince Taesil Taesung Ceremony" is hosted by Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where King Sejong's Taesil is located, followed by the "Tae Bong-chul Ceremony" at Gyeongbokgung Palace on the 16th (Wednesday), and the "Tae Bong-bong Ceremony" in Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 26th (Sat).
The Sejong Grand Prince Taesil Taesung Ceremony will be reproduced at Gyeongbokgung Palace for the second time this year after 2007, and will be held as a ceremony to wash the prince's taesung at Gyotaejeon Hall, to appoint Taebongsa (place) in Gangnyeongjeon Hall.
This Jangtae ritual is a unique traditional ritual in Korea that is difficult to find in other countries, and the Tae, which gave life to the fetus, was not abandoned and stored preciously even after childbirth, and in particular, the royal Tae was treated more preciously because it was closely related to national luck.
The Gyeongbokgung Management Office plans to actively attract and support royal rituals and reenactment events in the future to promote and restore our valuable cultural heritage.
