2014 Gyeongbokgung Palace Autumn Night Special Opening Guide (including recruiting volunteer groups)

The Cultural Heritage Administration (Director Na Sun-hwa) will hold a special opening of Gyeongbokgung Palace's autumn night from October 22 to November 3 (closed on October 28) for 12 days to enjoy the beautiful red autumn leaves of the old palace on an autumn night. The special opening at night this fall will provide services that the public wants in terms of customized services for cultural heritage 3.0, and recruit private volunteer groups within the period to realize the value of public-private cooperation in utilizing cultural heritage.

The maximum number of visitors per day for the "Special Opening of the Autumn Night at Gyeongbokgung Palace" is 2,000, and the purchase of tickets is limited to two per person.

※ Senior citizens aged 65 or older and foreigners: telephone reservations (auction tickets), on-site purchases on a first-come, first-served basis

The viewing time of this "Night Special Opening" is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the closing time for admission is 9 p.m., an hour before the viewing is over.

Free admission is available only for 50 people (free* including one guardian) who are persons of national merit and persons with disabilities,

Infants and toddlers under the age of 6 who are accompanied by parents who have purchased tickets can enter immediately for free without purchasing tickets on the spot.

Auction ticket reservations can be made on the Internet by the general public, and phone reservations can be made (except Mondays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays and public holidays) only for senior citizens aged 65 or older and foreigners. However, reservations for smartphones are not possible for Auction tickets.

※ Telephone reservation: Reservation is only available for 50 tickets / 1 day for senior citizens aged 65 or older, 50 tickets for foreigners / 1 day for auction tickets.

In the case of Interpark, only the general public (seniors aged 65 or older and foreigners cannot make phone reservations) can make reservations on the Internet and smartphones (using the application).

There is no sale to the public regarding on-site purchases, and 50 copies will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis only to senior citizens aged 65 or older and foreigners

This reflects the difficulty of using the Internet for senior citizens and foreigners.

During the special opening of Gyeongbokgung Palace at night in autumn, it will check at the entrance to prevent visitors from bringing flammable substances or alcohol in cooperation with related agencies such as the National Police Agency, Jongno Fire Station, and Jongno-gu Office for order and safety management.

Meanwhile, organizations and companies interested in cultural heritage volunteer activities will be openly recruited from October 1 to October 10, and the recruited organizations and companies will patrol the night opening site or guide the viewing route. Organizations and companies that wish to volunteer (individuals cannot) will be selected after self-examination by each palace management office if they apply through the banner window on the website of the palace management office.
