(Report) Re-enactment event for the appointment of the head of the Gyeongbokgung Palace gate will be held

Re-enactment of the chief gatekeeper's appointment ceremony / March 30. (Sun) 2 p.m., Gyeongbokgung Palace Heungryemun

The Cultural Heritage Administration (Director Na Sun-hwa) will recreate the "Gyeongbokgung Gatekeeper Appointment Ceremony" with the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation (Chairman Kim Jong-jin) at 2 p.m. on the 30th in front of Heungryemun Gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace.

The appointment ceremony of the chief gatekeeper is a special event of the Gyeongbokgung Palace Gatekeeper Replacement Ceremony, which has been operated permanently at Gyeongbokgung Palace Heungryemun Square since 2002 to recreate the daily life of the palace, Korea's representative cultural heritage.

The event will be held in the order of ▲ travel to the king ▲ reproduction of the sense of appointment of the head of the gate ▲ appointment of the honorary head of the gate ▲ celebratory performance. In particular, this year's event will increase the dignity of the gatekeeper, the captain of the palace guard, by appointing 11 "audio-disabled cultural tourism commentators" working in Jongno-gu as "honorary gatekeepers in 2014."

It also provides visitors with various experience programs as well as simple ritual reproduction. ▲ Shooting arrows to select royal guards ▲ Gobong experience program, and various events will be held to tour and take pictures of the clothes and props of the floodgates, such as armor, flags, and weapons produced according to historical records of the Joseon Dynasty.

The gatekeeper appointment ceremony is free to watch in front of Heungryemun Gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the experience of covering Gapsa Temple is limited to first-come, first-served reservations from the 20th, and participants who want to experience it can fill out the application form and send it by e-mail ([email protected] ).

Currently, the "Sumunjang Changing Ceremony" is operated permanently six times a day (closed every Tuesday) at 10, 13, 15, 11, 14, and 16 o'clock, and is replaced by the Gwanghwamun Passage Ceremony only on the day of the gatekeeper appointment ceremony.
