2012 Autumn Night, King's Feast Again (Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang)
- 10.12.-14./10.19.-21, 8 p.m., Gyeonghoeru, Gyeongbokgung Palace -
The Cultural Heritage Administration (Director Kim Chan) and the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation (Chairman Lee Se-seop) will stage the nightly traditional performance "2012 Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang" at Gyeongbokgung Palace at 8 p.m. in October.
Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang is a real-life performance using Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and the surrounding scenery as a stage, and it received a good response last year, and it was held as a cultural event in March this year in connection with the Nuclear Security Summit. Visitors responded well with a performance that stages the architectural value and beautiful night view of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and combines the songs, dances, and music of traditional Korean performing arts to create a fantastic atmosphere and emotion.
Thanks to these favorable reviews, the number of performances in Gyeonghoeru in the second half of this year has increased to a total of six compared to the first half of last year, which was only three, and will be divided into two performances. The first performance will be from October 12 to October 14, and the second performance will be from October 19 to October 21.
Like the spring performance, this fall's performance will be held in the form of a story about the historical meaning of the construction of Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion to mark the 600th anniversary of the construction of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion (the 12th and 1412th year of King Taejong). Jeong Do-jeon, who played a pivotal role in the founding of Joseon and the founding of Gyeongbokgung Palace, or Heungseon Daewongun, who led the reconstruction of Gyeongbokgung Palace during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, will appear on the stage to give the audience an impression that transcends time and space.
Starting with the prelude performance "Ogomu," after the king and queen accompanied by Munmu Baekgwan, the first part "Gyeonghoeru Pavilion" and "Suryongeum," which consist of royal music "Jeongga," court dance "Gainjeon Mokdan," and "Suryongeum" and "Revival of Saenghwang and Danso," will be performed.
Among them, the crane dance, which flutters to the melody of "Suryongeum" created by the living emperor and the Danso on a small island (Mansae Mountain), floating in the pond in front of Gyeonghoeru, will be the climax of Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang in harmony with the beautiful night view of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion.
Gyeonghoeru Pavilion was a place where banquets were held for relatives, civil servants, and diplomatic envoys during the Joseon Dynasty, and this Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang will be a special opportunity to enjoy high-class traditional performances combined with architectural beauty.
Tickets for the performance are 30,000 won, and can be booked on a first-come, first-served basis (http://ticket.interpark.com ) from 2 p.m. on the 20th, and for more information, contact the Korea Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation (02-3011-2154) and Interpark (02-1544-1555).
