[Notice] Free opening related to Liberation Day and temporary holidays (8.17)
Hello, this is Deoksugung Palace Management Office.
On the occasion of Liberation Day and temporary holidays (8.17), we will open palaces, Jongmyo Shrine, and Joseon Royal Tombs for free as follows to promote cultural enjoyment opportunities for the people and revitalize domestic tourism.
1. Target institutions: Four Grand Palace, Jongmyo Shrine, and Royal Tombs of Joseon
2. Target period: Open free of charge for 3 days from August 15 (Sat) to August 17 (Mon) 2020
3. Main contents
go. Free opening of the four palaces, Jongmyo Shrine, and Joseon Royal Tombs during Liberation Day and temporary holidays for the entire nation
I. Including regular night visits to Deoksugung Palace and Changgyeonggung Palace, part-time visits to Jongmyo Shrine are converted to free viewing
All. Three cultural events are held in two places, including Changdeokgung Palace's Moonlight Trip
※ Sponsored viewing of Changdeokgung Palace and paid (reservation system) events are excluded from free viewing

1) Free admission: August 15 (Sat) to August 17 (Mon) for 3 days
2) Opening hours: 09:00 to 21:00 (admission closing 20:00)

- August 15 (Sat) to 16 (Sun): Same operation as the weekend commentary schedule
- August 17 (Monday): Same operation as the weekly commentary schedule
2. Visit the Korean Empire History Museum in Seokjojeon Hall
(Please refer to Deoksugung Palace website for information on how to operate/participate in advance reservation system.)
해설 Explanation time: Operating as a public holiday commentary (09:30, 11:00, 13)00, 15:00, 16:30/5 times)
3. Watching the Jungmyeong Exhibition
1) Opening hours: 09:30-17:30 (admission closing 17:00)
2) Explanation time: Operating as a holiday commentary (14:00, 15:30/2 times)
4. Korean Gatekeeper Changing Ceremony
8 August 15 (Sat) to 16 (Sun): Summary operation (11:00, 14:00, 15:30/3 times)
* August 15 (Mon): The shift ceremony may be canceled during the rally in front of Daehanmun Gate.
* August 17 (Monday) No ceremony to change the gatekeeper
5. Visit Deoksugung Palace Museum of Art (open the day before the holiday season)
