2018 Seokjojeon Korean Empire History Museum Special Exhibition <Korean Empire Emperor's Doubles>

The Deoksugung Palace Management Office will hold a special exhibition of the "Korean Empire Emperor's Clothing" in the exhibition room on the first floor of the Korean Empire History Museum in Seokjojeon Hall for two months from October 13th to December 12th.

The special exhibition deals with the costumes of the emperor of the Korean Empire as the first of its series of exhibitions, "The Royal Family of the Korean Empire," which is being held at the Korean Imperial Museum of History in Seokjojeon Hall. Following the course of King Gojong's life, the exhibition introduces eight kinds of King Gojong's costumes, including Hongryongpo worn by the king of Joseon, new cotton uniforms, Tongcheon Gwanbok, Ikseon Gwanbok, Daewonsu robes and mourning clothes, and Emperor Taewang robes made after King Gojong's abdication.

In addition, the changes in civil affairs and official uniforms before and after the establishment of the Korean Empire's emperor's costume are introduced through related relics and photographic materials. Through the exhibition, you will be able to see a number of modern doubles artifacts, medals, and memorials from each museum's collection, which have been difficult to meet.
