Changgyeonggung Palace fishing gear collection event notification
On August 26 (Wednesday), the Changgyeonggung Palace Management Office (Director Lee Man-hee) of the Cultural Heritage Administration will hold a ceremony to commemorate the death of the late former President Kim Dae Jung. This event is part of the "Making the Five Living and Breathing Gungs," a project to turn old palace tourism resources into a new fishing gear (a stream flowing out of the palace) flowing through the precincts of Changgyeonggung Palace.
The stream flowing in the yard at the entrance of the palace, such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace, was called Geumcheon because it has the meaning of Baesanimsu and the meaning of the boundary that distinguishes the inside and outside of the palace. In all palaces of Joseon, Geumcheon-gyo Bridge was built to cross it, and it has a symbolic meaning that by crossing Geumcheon-gyo Bridge, the officials should let their private hearts flow into flowing water and politics with a clean heart..
The Eogu Tongsik will be held at Geumcheon Bridge (Okcheon Bridge) in front of Myeongjeongmun Gate of Changgyeonggung Palace at 2 p.m. on August 26 (Wednesday), and the Royal Family Walk will also be staged around Geumcheon. Visitors will also be given souvenirs on a first-come, first-served basis.
The clear water flowing through the fishing gear, the dense shade of trees on the promenade next to the fishing gear, the stepping stones, and the appearance of waterfront plants planted downstream are expected to bring a refreshing feeling to the mind and body of visitors tired of the heat.
