Hello, this is Changgyeonggung Palace Management Office.

the opening of a large greenhouse

The Changgyeonggung Palace Management Office (Director Lee Man-hee) of the Cultural Heritage Administration will open the Changgyeonggung Palace Grand Greenhouse, which has not been opened since late last year due to repair work, from September 5th to 2 p.m.

Daeonsil, a Western building located in an antique palace, was completed with the zoo during the Changgyeongwon period (1909) but existed with the historical and architectural meaning of Korea's first Western-style greenhouse. It was designated as Registered Cultural Property No. 83 on February 6, 2004.

The large greenhouse, which has a sophisticated appearance in harmony with the quiet scenery of Changgyeonggung Palace, has shared our modern history as complex as any palace building.

The renovation work was carried out to address safety concerns caused by the aging of the facility and to showcase exhibits suitable for the palace's image, such as natural monuments and native plants.

A total of 110 kinds of 160 natural monuments, wildflowers, and native plants in Korea will be exhibited in the grand greenhouse, making it a natural learning center along with the "self-sustaining flower group," which has 80 kinds of native flowers planted next to the grand greenhouse.

On September 5, the event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to commemorate the opening of the newly renovated large greenhouse.

A photo zone will be set up to capture the memories of visiting Changgyeonggung Palace against the backdrop of the famous Daehwarang room, and postcards and information leaflets made with self-sustaining flowers and Daehwarang photos will be presented to visitors.
