The Changdeokgung Palace Management Office (Director Ahn Jung-yeol) of the Cultural Heritage Administration will provide a place to taste mulberries and cherries held at Changdeokgung Palace from June 9 (Tue) to June 11 (Thu).
During the Joseon Dynasty, various fruit trees were planted in the palace as an agricultural society based on agriculture, and there are records in the Annals that the king ordered Seungjeongwon to plant mulberry trees, the queen personally planted silkworms, or Moonjong planted cherry trees for his father King Sejong.
Mulberry is a fruit from mulberry trees, and when ripe, it has a sweet taste with blackish purple, and cherries are red and sweet, and in the past, it was planted in each village, so it was easy for anyone to taste, but today it has become a fruit that is hard to find in the city center.
It is expected to be a memory for the elderly to reminisce about the past, and a new experience for our own fruits, which were usually difficult to taste for young people who have become familiar with Western fruits.
In early summer, when the greenery is thick, let's have a good time tasting black mulberries and fresh cherries with family and acquaintances under the shade of a cool tree.
This year's palace fruit tasting event will be offered from 13:00 to 16:00 from June 9 to 11, and anyone who visits Changdeokgung Palace can taste it.
