Changdeokgung Palace Juhapru (翠屛) Reproduction of Chwi Byeong ((병
The Changdeokgung Palace Management Office (Director Ahn Jung-yeol) of the Cultural Heritage Administration reproduces Chwibyeong (blue folding screen), one of the unique traditional landscape techniques of the Joseon Dynasty, in the Juhapru Hwagye, the viewing center of Changdeokgung Palace.
Chwibyeong is a complex form of mountain fences and fences made of plants, and has the beauty of making the space deep and cozy while serving as a barrier to prevent the inside from being seen and dividing the space.
Based on the paintings of Donggwoldo (National Treasure No. 249) and the production techniques recorded in the 1820s, Juhapru's bamboo frame was woven and reproduced with a width of 30m, height of 150cm, and width of 60cm after consultation by related experts and deliberation by the Cultural Heritage Committee.
Through modern attempts at traditional landscaping techniques that have disappeared with history, the Korean beauty of the Juhapru and Buyongji areas will be further doubled, and all citizens will be able to enjoy the luxury walls that the upper class of the Joseon Dynasty saw and enjoyed.
The Chwibyeong Pavilion at Changdeokgung Palace is scheduled to be completed in early October and is expected to be beautifully established along with the autumn foliage of Changdeokgung Palace.
